PLANS FOR 2026

The second month of 2026 has already begun, so it is definitely time to outline what we are planning this year for Gods of War: Togo. Some items are still carry-overs from last year – and we hope to finally catch up with them this time.

Last year was an important lesson for us. Since GM is a side project for us, the time we can devote to it is always limited due to work and personal commitments. At the beginning of last year, we had a very ambitious plan to release dozens of new ships, including one entirely new fleet. On top of that came numerous trips for demos and tournaments, rules fixes and testing, and all the day-to-day activity, including discussions and answering your questions (which we truly enjoy doing).

Unfortunately, we do not possess a black hole capable of bending space-time and stretching the amount of time available to us, which meant that not everything was completed – especially new ships, starters, and squadrons.

Therefore, this year we want first and foremost to complete the remaining goals from last year, while also adding some new things.

Importantly, the game already features over one hundred ships and seven fleets, so simply adding as many ships as possible is no longer as crucial as it was in the early years (which does not mean there won’t be new ships – quite the opposite!). Increasingly, our focus is on making the game more engaging through new scenarios, campaign rules, and similar additions. That is the guiding idea for this year – and we hope you will like it.

It is also worth noting that even though not everything was finished last year, we still achieved a great deal. We released a new fleet – France – with over a dozen ships. New vessels were added for the Russians (very popular armoured cruisers), Americans (Yorktown, Petrel, Pennsylvania), Germans (Fürst Bismarck), and Japanese (Kasagi). Fortifications, Martello towers, and torpedo pinnaces also went on sale.

We played several historical battles from the 1898 war, including two versions of the Battle of Manila – and even battles with Martians. We organised and took part in numerous tournaments, including the largest Polish Championships so far, with 40 participants. We released an errata, new scenarios, and a dedicated scenario book. The Carcassonne Team created the mobile app “BW Togo – Admiral’s Aide” with a fleet builder. We also introduced a new ship valuation system and updated points costs to improve balance.

Before going into details, we would like to thank our entire community for your tremendous support. You are fantastic, and we truly appreciate your feedback 🙂

Let’s get to the details!

NEW ERRATA

Errare humanum est – to err is human – as Seneca once wrote. No ruleset is perfect, and something will always need improvement.

We have decided to begin work on the next errata. The last one was released on 31 August 2025, so the start of a new year feels like the right moment.

When will it be published? When it’s ready 🙂
We prefer quality over deadlines. But it is a priority, so rather sooner than later.

SCENARIO FIXES AND NEW SCENARIOS

Tournament experience showed that some scenarios need balancing improvements.

We will act in two ways:

  • Basic versions in the rulebook stay simple for learning games
  • Revised versions appear in the scenario book

We are also developing:

  • New symmetrical scenarios (for tournaments)
  • Asymmetrical scenarios (for casual play)
  • Historical scenarios (including a 1898 campaign book)

All will also be available in English.

CAMPAIGN RULES

We are working on campaign rules that allow any group (even just two players) to run their own ongoing campaign. Battles will have consequences, and there will be strategic and logistical elements (for example coal management – you cannot send all battleships on every patrol).

More details soon.

TOURNAMENT SUPPORT PROGRAMME

We will soon publish official tournament support rules – prize packs and special rewards for organisers of tournaments. Details coming soon.

Completing last year’s announcements is our priority. Work is ongoing on new squadrons and starters.
